Little Chapters Last updated: 08/05/2026
This is a draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Do not publish before legal review. Items in [brackets] require a decision or a fact you need to fill in.
The short version
We built this for children, so we collect as little as possible.
We never keep your child's voice. Recordings are deleted the moment we've worked out which words they read.
We never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.
There is no advertising in Little Chapters, and no way for your child to reach anything outside it.
You can delete everything about your child at any time, in a couple of taps.
The rest of this page explains that in full.
1. Who we are
Little Chapters is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [registered address].
Questions, requests, or concerns: [contact@inzone.ai]
2. Who this policy is for
The account holder is always a parent or legal guardian. Children do not create accounts, do not have logins, and cannot use Little Chapters independently of a parent's account.
Because Little Chapters is directed to children under 13, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This policy serves as our direct notice to parents.
3. What we collect
From you, the parent:
Email address
Mobile number, if you choose to receive session messages by text
Payment information, which is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
About your child:
First name only. We do not ask for a surname and you should not provide one.
Age
Three interests you select at signup, used to personalise the stories
Which words they read, and whether each was read independently or read aloud to them
Session dates and lengths
Your child's voice, temporarily. While your child reads aloud, audio is transmitted to our speech processing provider so we can determine which words they read. The recording is deleted immediately after processing and is never stored on our systems. We retain only the resulting list of words and whether each was read correctly.
We do not collect: surnames, addresses, photographs, contacts, precise location, or any information about anyone other than the account holder and the enrolled child.
4. Parental consent
Under COPPA we must obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from a child.
We obtain this consent when you create an account and complete payment using a credit or debit card, which is a method recognised under COPPA. By completing signup and payment, you consent to our collection and use of your child's information as described in this policy.
We will not collect more information than is reasonably necessary for your child to use Little Chapters, and we do not condition participation on providing more than that.
5. Why we collect it
What | Why |
|---|---|
First name and interests | To write chapters personalised to your child |
Age and reading results | To pitch each chapter at the right difficulty |
Word-level results | To decide what to reinforce and when to advance a level |
Voice, transiently | To determine which words were read. Deleted immediately. |
Your email and number | To send you session summaries and account notices |
Payment details | To process your subscription, via Stripe |
6. What we never do
We do not sell personal information, and have not in the preceding twelve months.
We do not share your child's information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing partners.
We do not use your child's voice or reading data to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model, ours or anyone else's.
We do not show advertising of any kind.
We do not build profiles of your child for any purpose beyond adjusting their reading level.
We do not permit any behavioural advertising or tracking by third parties on our service.
7. Who processes data on our behalf
We use a small number of service providers, each bound to use data only to provide services to us:
[Google Firebase] — hosting, database, and authentication
[OpenAI] — speech processing and text generation. [CONFIRM: zero data retention arrangement, and that inputs are not used for model training. This must be verified before publishing.]
[Stripe] — payment processing. Stripe handles your card details directly.
[Twilio] — delivery of text messages, if you opt in
We do not permit any of these providers to use your child's information for their own purposes.
8. How long we keep things
Voice recordings: deleted immediately after processing. Never stored.
Reading results and chapters: kept while your account is active, so your child's bookshelf and progress remain available.
Account and billing records: kept while active, then for [PERIOD] as required for tax and accounting purposes.
On deletion: everything about your child is deleted within [30] days of your request or of account closure, other than records we are legally required to retain.
9. Your rights as a parent
At any time you may:
Review all information we hold about your child
Delete your child's information entirely
Refuse further collection by cancelling your subscription
Correct anything inaccurate
You can delete your child's data from your account settings, or email [contact@inzone.ai] and we will action it within [30] days.
Deleting your child's information means we can no longer provide the service, and your subscription will end.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act, other US state privacy laws, or the UK and EU GDPR. [CONFIRM which jurisdictions you are operating in and add the corresponding sections. If you serve UK or EU users, this policy needs substantial additions including lawful basis and international transfer disclosures.]
10. Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls limiting who on our team can view personal information, and we minimise what we collect in the first place. The most effective protection we offer is not retaining your child's voice at all.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information we will notify you as required by law.
11. Content in the stories
Chapters are generated by AI within strict constraints we publish openly. The stories contain no human characters other than your child, no violence or frightening content, no branded characters, and no material relating to relationships, religion, or politics.
You receive each chapter before your child does and can request a different one. [CONFIRM this feature ships, or remove this paragraph.]
12. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your child's information, we will notify you by email and, where the law requires it, obtain your consent again before the change takes effect.
